UMBERTO FOLLI (1919-1989)

Umberto Folli was born and died in Massa Lombarda (1919 – 1989). He was a painter and decorator.

Umberto Folli studied at the School of Art and Trades in Cotignola and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.

His paintings show the influence of many great past and present artists, from Velázquez to Goya, from Ensor to Munch, from the Flemish artist to Kirchner.
Motivated by an intense passion for education, Folli took care of passing on his knowledge on art to young people by re-establishing the Municipal School of Art and Trades of Massa Lombarda and by teaching painting at the Academies of Turin and Ravenna.
