FESTA DEL BUCO INCAVATO

The Buco Incavato festival dedicated to the Massa Lombarda peach reaffirms the commitment to enhance the project of recovering peasant traditions and safeguarding small-scale production of gastronomic excellence.

In addition to the organization of the festival, the “Buco incavato” project also includes the promotion of the cultivation of the typical peach thanks to the “keepers of the Buco incavato”. There’s a synergy between farmers, growers and collectors who support the planting of the peach, thus encouraging its productive restart. A commitment rooted in local history: at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries Massa Lombarda bacame famous for its cutting-edge “industrial fruit growing.” The symbol of that revolution was undoubtedly the Buco incavato, the variety of peach tree most widespread and cultivated in the Massa territories in the first part of the 1900s, so much so that it was marketed under the name of “Massa Lombarda Peach.”

This year, the festival returns on 20th August, with an evening dedicated to the younger generation titled “Buco Incavato Young”.
