NEOLITHIC SETTLEMENT

This Neolithic settlement was discovered in 1982 in the area of Gattelli kiln.

The ceramic and stone finds which were found during excavation works lead to believe that this settlement belongs to the ancient Neolithic age, and more precisely to the “Fiorano” age and culture.
The settlement was wery well preserved under earth, so remains of the human culture were found sealed in the earth, so it was possible to collect several informations on the settlement and many findings (like seeds and pieces of wood).
Researches carried out by the regional “Soprintendenza Archeologica dell’Emilia-Romagna” from 1983 till today enable to outline some aspects of village topography such as space organization and structure of the settlement. At the moment there are limited informations on Neolithic age, therefore Lugo’s settlement represents an important and rich source of knowledge.
