EBE STIGNANI (1903-1974)

Ebe Stignani BagnacavalloEbe Stignani was born in Naples in 1903 from a family from Romagna. She was an opera singer.

She was born in Naples and her family was from Romagna.
Ebe studied singing, composition and piano for five years at the conservatory San Pietro a Majella in Naples; her debut was at the Teatro San Carlo in 1925, playing the part of Amneris in Aida.
She gathered consensus straight away thanks to her wonderful mezzo soprano and contralto voice; she performed in theatres around the world with great success.

She retired at the age of 55 and moved to Imola; the municipality of the town honoured the illustrious late citizen on December the 20th 1977 by entitling the municipal theatre to Ebe Stignani.

The singer is buried in Bagnacavallo.
