Gregorio Ricci Curbastro was born in Lugo on January the 12th in 1853 and died in Bologna on August the 6th in 1925. He was a scientist and a politician.
He studied physics and mathematics and gained a degree at the university of Padua, where he was nominated professor. The start of his academic career at the university of Padua marked the start of his most intense period of studies and research.
Ricci Curbastro also actively took part to the politic life of Lugo and Padua, not to mention his important projects for reclaims in the low lands of the Ravenna province and his project for drinking water supply in Lugo.
