The Romagna Air Finders Museum (“An aircraft, a human-interest story”) in Fusignano is a must for all aviation and military history enthusiasts, with its displays of finds discovered by the men of the R.a.F (Romagna Air Finders). The collection is kept in two different exhibition centres and includes uniforms, personal possessions, clothing, inert weapons, equipment, life size mock-ups and reproductions, documents and various curiosities thoroughly organised and framed in large explanatory scenic panels and all summarised in a specific catalogue.
The first exhibition centre, located centrally in Fusignano, displays important finds such as the remains of a Thunderbolt P47, a fighter of the Brazilian armed forces recovered in the hills of the Province of Bologna, and a Messerschmitt BF109G, a German aircraft found in the countryside near San Bernardino di Lugo together with the remains of its pilot, Second Lieutenant Hans Fischer.
In 2018 a second exhibition centre was opened, also in Fusignano, at via Maiano n. 63A. Both centres contain finds and relics of aircraft and pilots that crashed in Italy during the Second World War: uniforms and articles, equipment and inert weapons, reproductions and documents, all of which are strictly authentic finds. For the most part the finds were discovered by the men of Romagna Air Finders who, since that unforgettable 13 August 1998, have brought to light no less than 18 aircraft shot down and left buried under the ground in Italy, in addition to the bodies of 8 unfortunate English, German, British and Italian pilots, for whom funeral services were held with military honours after which they were given a proper burial.
The Romagna Air Finders Museum has video and audio supports in addition to facilities for meetings, video viewings, consultation and study.
