VILLA MALERBI

Villa Malerbi dates back to the beginning of the XIX century. The villa was built as a countryside house for the families of the two brothers Malerbi Giuseppe (1771-1849) and Luigi (1776-1843), both of them famous musicians whose music school was one of the first in its kind in Romagna. Gioacchino Rossini studied here as well.

The neoclassic style facade carries a central loggia on the second floor, which is made of three arcades of Doric columns; those columns carry a traditional triangular gable that repeats the decoration of the cornice. Doorway are in a simple style and shaped as arches, and they also carry a decoration in the frame. In the interior of the building it’s hosted a memorial inscription to celebrate the memory of the famous musicians Malerbi.

The villa hosts the municipal school of music, named “Scuola Comunale di Musica”, which is named after “Malerbi”.
