PALAZZO COMUNALE – TOWN HALL
The municipal palace was built whereit used to stand the building that Vecchi family donated to the town in 1788 to host a public school. In 1818 it became the townhall.
VILLA MONTI
Built in 1717 in Maiano Monti for will of Matteo Tamburini, in 1769 it was sold to Fedele Monti who arrived here four years later, when his famous son Vincenzo Monti, poet and scholar, was 17. Monti family lived here until 1889.
VILLA MALERBI
Villa Malerbi dates back to the beginning of the XIX century. The villa was built as a countryside house for the families of the two brothers Malerbi Giuseppe (1771-1849) and Luigi (1776-1843), both of them famous musicians whose music school was one of the first in its kind in Romagna. Gioacchino Rossini studied here as well.
CANADIAN WAR CEMETRY 1939-1945
War cemetry built and attended by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and been designed by Louis De Soissons.
PORTA SAN BARTOLOMEO
This city gate dates back to the Middle Age but its exact date of construction is unknown. Its name comes from the saint to whom it’s named after the near oratory dedicated to San Bartolomeo.
JEWISH CEMETRY
Lugo Jewish cemetry testifies the presence, in the past history of this town, of a relevant Jewish community. The peak of tolerance towards them was under the rule of the Este, since they did not isolate them in a ghetto, as most of Italian cities did at that time.
PALAZZO SFORZA
Ancient palace belonging to Sforza family. The palace was rebuilt in 1961 according to the original design.
PALAZZO TRISI
Palazzo has been built during the second half of the XVIII century; the building hostssome municipal cultural offices and the homonimous Library which has about 123,000 pieces, among which ara manuscripts, some of the them are also signed, incunabola, XVI century editions plus other precious books and a collection of magazines, prints and drawings.
PAVAGLIONE
Pavaglione is a peculiar and imposing building which sorrounds an open air square. It was built in 1783 to be used as a silk worm market, which, at the time, was one of the biggest in Europe.
MONUMENTO AL RANOCCHIO – FROG’S MONUMENT
In Conselice’s town centre, it’s located an original monument dedicated to the protagonist, against its will, of the famous local Festival of the Frog, taking place every year along the third week of September.
